I was born into an artistic family on the 9th of February 1973 and raised in West Bromwich, near Birmingham, and ever since I was knee high to a grasshopper I have been drawing or making things from cardboard, like cars for my Sindy doll or little houses.
At school, my favourite subject was , of course, art and I had a wonderful teacher called Mr Evans who gave me support throughout my years at Edgecliff High School, Kinver. He convinced me to take my GCSE in Art 1 year early and I'm glad I did because I passed with a grade A.
I attended to Stourbridge College of Technology & Art after school and gained knowledge in various subjects. I then decided to further my education at West Surrey College of Art & Design, Farnham, Surrey with a BA(Hons) course in textile Design. The course itself was very technologically based and learnt a lot about printed
textile design , which became my final 2 years subject. I had my degree show at Butlers Wharf, in London and finally came out with a BA(Hons) in Printed Textile Design.
After Farnham I decided to move to Brighton with my future husband, Mark, a fellow artist who I met at college. We both held jobs in the Public Sector, sadly not art related. Mark later formed a partnership with his friend in Website Design, and later the offer of Design work in Spain arose, so we emigrated and have remained here happily on the Costa Del Sol for 9 years
Mark is a thriving freelance web designer and I am obsessively painting and working towards exhibitons in the Uk.
My father who is an exceptional landscape Artist helps me a lot with the framing of my work for the galleries. I have work on sale constantly at The Gallery at Bevere, Bevere Lane , Worcester, UK and am a member of Wolverhampton and Worcester Society of Artists.
MY WORK
My paintings are illustrative and observed and I tend to paint things that really interest me. Recently my favourite subject is fruit. I am absolutley fanatical about it's colour and form.
I look at things , obsessively of how and what they are.
Some of my recent still life paintings have been working in soft pastel , which has always been a medium that i have swayed against using, probably because I have only concentrated on working in enhanced watercolour. I'm in love with pastel as you can obtain a rich and vibrant colour throughout your work.
My Pet Portraits have proven very popular here in Spain as well as in the UK, and currently I have built up an association with a American Dog Boutique in Nueva Andulucia, Costa del Sol, where examples of my work can be seen by visiting customers.
