I was born into an artistic family on the 9th of February 1973 and raised in West Bromwich, near Birmingham, and ever since I was knee high to a grasshopper I have been drawing or making things from cardboard, like cars for my Sindy doll or little houses.
At about the age of 8 my family and I moved to a little village near Dudley which was lovely, right in the heart of the countryside. My social skills were'nt very good as I was more interested in drawing pictures of my favourite pop stars at the time , like Madonna, Bros' and Michael Jackson. At school, my favourite subject was , of course, art and I had a wonderful teacher called Mr Evans who gave me support throughout my years at Edgecliff High School, Kinver. He convinced me to take my GCSE in Art 1 year early and I'm glad I did because I passed with a grade A. I went to Stourbridge College of Technology & Art after school and gained knowledge in various subjects. I then decided to further my education at West Surrey College of Art & Design, Farnham, Surrey with a BA(Hons) course in textile Design. The course itself was very technologically based and learnt a lot about printed textile design , which became my final 2 years subject. I had my degree show at Butlers Wharf, in London and finally came out with a BA(Hons) in Printed Textile Design. After Farnham I decided to move to Brighton with my future husband, Mark, a fellow artist who I met at college. We both had jobs working with the public and unfortunately nothing to do with art. Mark had become a partner in his friends website business and so we decided to move to Spain. And this is where we are now. Mark is a thriving freelance web designer and I am obsessively painting and working towards exhibitons in the Uk. My father who is an exceptional landscape Artist helps me a lot with the framing of my work for the galleries. I have work on sale constantly at The Gallery at Bevere, Bevere Lane , Worcester, UK and am a member of Wolverhampton Society of Artists. MY WORK My most recent work, I've been working in soft pastel , which has always been a medium that i have swayed against using, probably because I have only concentrated on working in enhanced watercolour. I'm in love with pastel at the moment as you can obtain a rich and vibrant colour throughout your work. |
